“I should be glad, Onesicritus, to come back to life for a little while after my death to discover how men read these present events then.  If now they praise and welcome them do not be surprised; they think, every one of them, that this is a fine bait to catch my goodwill.”

Alexander The Great, quoted by Lucian in “How To Write History.”

Researched for over a decade, The Confessions of Alexander The Great: 33 Lessons in Greatness is written by Ashkan Karbasfrooshan and is slated to be published in late 2004.

The book is the first and only one to chronicle Alexander's journey in a first-person narrative, diary or journal-like fashion.  This simple yet original twist makes this latest installment in Alexander's legend by far one of the most insightful works on the great Macedonian leader: the first and only to chronicle Alexander's journey as if Alexander was telling his own life story.

Alexander never left any personal notes outlining his life or detailing any specific event.  Everything that we know about him is through one secondary source or another.  Many of these date back to the Roman Empire after the death of Alexander and fall of the Greek Empire.

Over time, scholars have relied on these finite secondary sources to pontificate on his life in a third-person narrative, offering their take on Alexander's journeys.  As such, there are no shortages of books on Alexander, but due to his lasting legacy, readers of such books find themselves wanting to know more about him.

Understandably, no one has ever attempted to tell Alexander's story through his eyes.  Frankly, failing to do so is an injustice to both Alexander and his legacy.

Alexander died one month shy of his 33rd birthday.  Historically, he has been either vilified or glorified in written texts.  In The Confessions of Alexander The Great, the author breaks from the pact and seeks to offer a unique glimpse into the short-lived but tumultuous life of the young Macedonian leader.  The author manages to bridge the two polar perspectives and offers a candid, clever and subtly critical glimpse into the body, soul and mind of the greatest secular figure in history.

The book is broken into 33 themes that marked Alexander's greatness to help the reader borrow from both Alexander's accomplishments and failures in a manner that can be applied to modern times.

Written by one of the 21st Century's most prolific young writers, The Confessions of Alexander The Great: 33 Lessons in Greatness is an original, compelling and humorous examination of Alexander's journeys.
